LifeLearn is a parent and provider community. Community accounts are for parents, carers and independent providers aged 18 or over. This age limit exists because the community is designed for adults arranging learning opportunities, discussing home education, managing provider contact and making decisions on behalf of children.
These rules apply to every community space: activity feeds, groups, forums, messages, profiles, reviews and the Member Offers board. Breaking them can lead to content removal, warnings, suspension or a permanent ban — see the Moderation Policy.
1. Adults only
Accounts are for users aged 18 or over. Under-18s must not create accounts, access community features, post, message, or contact providers — including through a parent’s account. If you see an account you believe belongs to an under-18, report it immediately.
2. Protect children’s privacy
- Do not post a child’s full name, school, address, precise location, routine, or anything that identifies a child alongside their whereabouts.
- Photos of children may only be posted by their own parent or carer, and never in combination with identifying location detail. Never post photos of other people’s children without the parent’s explicit consent.
- Do not ask other members for identifying details about their children.
3. Be decent
No harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, threats, doxxing or targeted abuse. Robust disagreement about home education approaches is welcome; attacks on people are not.
4. Stay lawful and safe
No illegal content of any kind. No encouragement of harm. No content that sexualises or endangers children — this results in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement (see Safeguarding Policy).
5. Keep it honest
- No misinformation presented as legal fact. Legal questions about deregistration, School Attendance Orders or the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act should be answered with reference to the actual law or our Library guides — members must not present personal opinion as legal advice.
- No impersonation of other members, providers, local authorities or LifeLearn staff.
6. No spam, no off-channel advertising
Providers may promote services only through their directory listing and the Member Offers board. No unsolicited promotional DMs, no affiliate spam, no recruitment of members to external paid schemes.
7. Respect the platform
No scraping member data, no mass-messaging, no attempts to bypass membership gating, no sharing of premium content outside the platform.
8. Reporting
Every post, message, profile, review and listing can be reported. See the Reporting and Complaints Policy for how reports are handled and how to appeal a moderation decision.
Enforcement ladder: content removal → written warning → temporary suspension → permanent ban. Serious breaches (child safety, illegal content, threats) skip straight to permanent ban.
