Effective date: 14 July 2026 · Last reviewed: 9 August 2026
These terms apply to anyone who claims, creates or manages a business listing on LifeLearn, holds a Business/Provider membership, or posts to the Member Offers board. They apply in addition to the Website Terms of Use and Community Rules. “We” is Spodge Ltd, trading as LifeLearn (Company Reg. No. 17339371, England & Wales).
1. Eligibility
Provider accounts are for individuals aged 18 or over acting for a genuine business or service relevant to home-educating families in the UK. You confirm you are authorised to represent the business you list.
2. Listings
- Accuracy. Everything in your listing — services, qualifications, experience, prices, contact details, age ranges — must be true, current and not misleading. You must update your listing when details change.
- Seeded (unclaimed) listings. LifeLearn pre-populates the directory with publicly available business information to help families find local provision. Unclaimed listings are clearly marked and carry no badges. You may claim your listing, correct it, or ask for it to be removed at any time via hello@lifelearn.co.uk.
- Content standards. Listings must meet the Provider Declarations & Listing Standards. We may edit listings for formatting/category accuracy and may reject or remove listings that breach these terms.
3. Badges and declarations
Badges on LifeLearn are provider-declared: DBS/PVG/AccessNI, insurance, qualifications and SEND experience badges are statements you make about your own business, displayed with a “provider-declared, not independently checked by LifeLearn” note and the date declared. A declaration must be true when made and withdrawn or updated promptly if it stops being true. We may ask you to show supporting evidence for any declaration at any time; where shown, we record only the fact, date and outcome — never document copies. Making a false declaration is a serious breach and grounds for immediate removal from the directory. Full rules: Provider Declarations & Listing Standards.
4. Safeguarding obligations
- You are solely responsible for compliance with all law applicable to your service, including safeguarding, health and safety, insurance, and (where applicable) Ofsted registration or exemption.
- LifeLearn is an adults-only platform. You must not use LifeLearn to communicate with, collect data about, or market directly to under-18s. All platform contact is with parents and carers.
- You must cooperate with any safeguarding enquiry we make and comply with our Safeguarding Policy. Concerns raised about a provider may lead to suspension of the listing while we review, and referral to statutory agencies where appropriate.
5. Your relationship with families
Bookings, cancellations, supervision and delivery of services are contracts between you and the family. LifeLearn is not a party to them and accepts no liability for them. You must hold appropriate public liability insurance for the services you deliver.
Where you charge for a session, you are the seller. LifeLearn does not receive, hold or control the money families pay you — see clause 11.
6. Member Offers board
Offers appear on the board immediately and are reviewed by the admin team afterwards; we may amend or remove an offer that breaches these terms. Offers must be genuine, honour their stated terms for the stated period, and comply with UK advertising and consumer law (CAP Code, Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations). Misleading offers will be removed and repeated breaches end Offers access.
7. Reviews
Parents may review your listing. You may reply once to each review. You must not offer incentives for reviews, review your own business, or arrange reviews from people who have not used your service. See the Review Policy — including your right to flag a review you believe breaches it.
8. Fees
Business/Provider membership fees are billed by subscription through Stripe, renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time with access to the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change fees with at least 30 days’ notice, effective from your next renewal.
9. Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove a listing, badge, offer or provider account for breach of these terms, safeguarding concerns, legal risk, or sustained credible complaints. Where practical we will tell you why and give you the opportunity to respond — see the Reporting and Complaints Policy for appeals. No refund is due for periods of suspension caused by your breach.
10. Liability and indemnity
You indemnify Spodge Ltd against claims arising from your listing content, your offers, or your services. Our liability to you is limited as set out in the Website Terms of Use.
11. Charging for sessions
This clause was added on 9 August 2026 and takes effect on 23 August 2026.
11.1 You are the seller
When a family books a paid session you have listed, you are selling to them directly. You are responsible for running the session, for your own refund policy, for handling cancellations and complaints, and for your own tax and VAT position on what you earn. LifeLearn is not your agent and does not sell on your behalf.
11.2 Your Stripe account
To charge for a session you must connect your own Stripe account. Payments go into that account and Stripe pays out to your bank on your own schedule, under your agreement with Stripe. We store only your Stripe account identifier so that payments can be directed to you; we do not hold credentials that would let us operate your Stripe account.
11.3 What LifeLearn does and does not do
- LifeLearn’s software asks Stripe to create a payment page on your account when a family books.
- LifeLearn does not receive, hold or control the money. It never passes through a LifeLearn account.
- LifeLearn takes no commission. We deduct nothing from what you are paid. Stripe’s own processing charges are deducted by Stripe.
- Refunds and chargebacks come out of your Stripe balance, not ours. We cannot refund a family on your behalf.
11.4 What you must do
- Publish a clear refund policy with every paid session, before families book. A paid session cannot be published without one.
- Describe the session accurately — what it is, who it is for, where it is, and what is included.
- Keep to what you have advertised, and tell families promptly if you must cancel or change a session.
- Honour your refund policy and your obligations under consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
- Hold the insurance, licences, checks and permissions your activity requires — clauses 3 and 4 continue to apply.
11.5 If you do not deliver
Persistent failure to run sessions families have paid for, or to honour your own refund policy, is a serious breach of these terms and grounds for suspension or removal under clause 9. Nothing in this clause makes LifeLearn responsible to the family for your obligations.
Governed by the law of England and Wales.
