Effective date: 14 July 2026 · Last reviewed: 27 July 2026
This statement applies to lifelearn.co.uk, run by Spodge Ltd (Company Reg. No. 17339371). We want LifeLearn to be usable by as many people as possible, including families using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced-motion settings.
1. What we aim for
We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. LifeLearn is a new platform and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished state: this website partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 AA, and the sections below are honest about where it currently falls short.
2. What we have built in
- Listen player. Most Library guides carry full audio narration with a synchronised reading view, for people who prefer or need to listen rather than read.
- Reduced motion. Site animations respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting and are switched off when it is enabled.
- Keyboard access. Navigation, jump-menus and interactive sections are built to work with a keyboard, with visible focus.
- Structure. Pages use headings, landmarks and descriptive link text so screen readers can move around them.
- Contrast and text. Core text meets AA contrast against its backgrounds, and text can be resized in your browser without loss of content.
3. Known limitations
- Some older guide pages and interactive sections predate our current standards and are being brought up to them progressively.
- Some images and decorative graphics are still missing text alternatives.
- Parts of the community area are provided by third-party software (BuddyBoss) whose accessibility we do not fully control.
- Video content is being captioned as it is produced; some early videos may not yet have captions.
4. Tell us if something doesn’t work for you
If you find a page you cannot use, need content in a different format, or have a suggestion, email hello@lifelearn.co.uk with “Accessibility” in the subject. We aim to respond within 5 working days and to fix genuine barriers as a priority.
5. Enforcement
If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which supports the Equality Act 2010.
6. Review
This statement is reviewed at least annually and whenever significant new features launch.
