You upload your enhanced DBS check certificate (or update certificate from the DBS Update Service). We confirm it's current and valid before the badge appears on your listing.

Provider questions, answered honestly
Do you take a commission on bookings?
No. LifeLearn is a flat subscription. Whatever you charge families, you keep 100% of. We never see, hold, or take a cut of customer payments — your billing relationship with parents is direct and yours alone.
What if I'm not yet DBS-checked?
You can start your listing during the application process — but the DBS-verified badge only appears once we've seen the certificate. Most providers choose to apply for DBS in parallel with building their profile, since it takes 2–4 weeks. We can point you to the application route appropriate to your business.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?
Yes — any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal date. Prime tier includes downgrade protection: if you downgrade, your existing extra listings are preserved (read-only) for 90 days so you don't lose them while deciding.
What's the cancellation policy?
Cancel any time. Monthly plans end at the next billing date with no further charge. Annual plans run to the end of the paid period — we don't refund unused months, but there's no fee or paperwork to cancel beyond a single click in your account settings.
How do parents actually find my listing?
Three primary routes: directory browsing (parents filtering by location, subject, age range, SEN provision, DBS status); search (text search across listings); and community recommendations (parents in groups recommending you to others, with your listing linked). Pro and Prime tiers get priority placement in search and directory views.
What if my business is brand new with no reviews yet?
Every listing starts with no reviews — that's normal. The first reviews come from your first families. You can ask happy customers to leave a review through your provider dashboard. Reviews are only accepted from families who have actually booked through your contact details, so they're verified and meaningful.
Are payments handled by LifeLearn?
Subscription payments to LifeLearn are handled by Stripe. Customer payments to you are not — those happen directly between you and the family, however you usually take payment. We don't process bookings or take a cut, which is also why we don't charge commission.
Is LifeLearn just for traditional tutors?
No. The directory covers everything UK home-educating families look for: tutors, SEN specialists, forest schools, activity centres, swimming & climbing, art & music workshops, language schools, GCSE-prep providers, exam centres, and more. If you serve home-ed families, you fit.
