LA Visit
I am new to home-educating, I am due to expect a visit from LA anytime or do they write or contact you first?

Try not to worry. They usually want to know that education is happening, not to inspect a school day. A written summary of your approach is normally plenty, and you don’t have to agree to a home visit.

Today I have completely given up planning loads for the week because we end up doing something completely different, and the funny thing is, it actually works out much better.

This is the bit I wish someone had told me in the first year. I now write down what we did on a Friday instead of what we should do on a Monday, and it looks far more impressive.

This is us. I made a beautiful colour-coded timetable in September and we followed it for about nine days.

I still write a rough list, but I treat it as a menu rather than a schedule. Some days we pick two things off it, some days none.
