My son just finished year 6. He really struggled with primary school so we had always said we would home educate for secondary school. We are not really doing anything at the moment as it is the holidays but we will be starting in September. How old is your child/children?

@rhiannon-miller We are in the same position for our daughter. She is due to start Secondary school next month but she I don’t think she will cope. I worry that I will not be enough for her though if we don’t send her.

@Maryam What do you mean when you say, “I worry that I will not be enough for her”? Do you mean socially or educationally?
If it is the latter, I hear this so often. Were you enough before she started school? Are you enough at weekends and during the holidays? Children are natural learners—they learnt to speak, communicate and understand the world long before anyone formally taught them.
You already recognise that your daughter may not cope with secondary school. That insight suggests that home education may be a good option for her. You do not need to know everything; you need to help her find answers, provide opportunities and learn alongside her. You know your daughter better than anyone, so being willing to listen to her is a very good place to begin.1
